DESCRIPTION: ...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Wisconsin... Kickapoo River at Ontario affecting Monroe and Vernon Counties. .Heavy rain has resulted in flooding along the Kickapoo River near Ontario. No additional heavy rainfall is expected. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Kickapoo River at Ontario. * WHEN...Until late tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Flooding occurs along the river in the Ontario area. Water may be over Highway P near Bridge 10, and also over Winchell Valley Road at Bridge 8. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 5:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 19.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 5:00 AM CDT Saturday was 19.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.7 feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this evening. - Flood stage is 16.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.4 feet on 09/22/2016. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.
